With Lake Bloomington in our front yard the camp contains acreage of wilderness- including over eight kilometers of hiking trails, allowing for ample opportunity to spot wild turkey, deer, bald eagles, and other wildlife. Warm fire places and bonfire pits make for perfect s’more roasting year round, while canoe rides and pontoon boat outings give guests a chance to cool off and wind down.
HISTORY
TIMBER POINTE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
The Easterseals Timber Pointe property was originally owned by the Boy Scouts Camp Heffernan, and Easterseals began providing camping experiences for children with disabilities in the early 1950’s. Shortly after purchasing the land from the Boy Scouts in 1989, Easterseals’ and the Timber Pointe Charitable Foundation began the long process of transforming the property into a year-round camp and retreat center designed for inclusive, and adapted programming that meets the needs of individual campers and families. We are a unique resource for the Central Illinois community.
Easterseals Central Illinois provides comprehensive pediatric therapy for children with autism, developmental delays and disabilities in our community. We work together with families to help children reach their goals for success in day to day life.
Our services include: Autism Services, Speech-Language Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Developmental Therapy, Aquatic Therapy and more. In addition to the services provided, Easterseals Central Illinois hosts several clinics including the Autism Diagnostic Clinic, Orthotics Clinic, Cerebral Palsy Clinic and more.
Easterseals Central Illinois also operates two Autism Learning Centers, a preschool type setting for intensive ABA therapy as well as the Easterseals Learning Academy that serves school age children and teenagers and Timber Pointe Outdoor Center.
